چکیده
Abstract Aim Renal decompression following ureteral obstruction is a common urological emergency. Malignant patients often have poor life-expectancy, and the impact of on survival questionable [1]. We herein review outcomes management in single unit. Method Records nephrostomy requests Ysbyty Gwynedd between January 2017 December 2021 were retrospectively reviewed. Information patient demographics, primary pathology, performance status (PS), change renal function recorded. Results Over 60 months, 102 nephrostomies performed. Benign obstructions constituted 30.4% (n = 31) cases. Of 71 cancer cases, 9 re-insertions due to complications. Cancer group was associated with high early deaths (11.3%, 64.5% 85.5% at 3, 12 respectively) only 1 5 kidney units illustrating improvement decompression. All frail, 2 (63%) 3 (37%). Following insertion, 69.3% developed urinary infection and/or sepsis requiring treatment. Only about (53%) received further oncological treatment (chemo- /or radiotherapy). Though ante grade ureteric stenting attempted 23 insertion for cancer, 21 successful those blocked within 14 days. Conclusions Decompression malignant may not improve can involve multiple interventions quality-of-life implication. Hence, decision decompress should be default would therefore need individualized, adopting multidisciplinary approach.

This study aimed to report the overall survival and surgical re...
متن کاملRetrospective Review of Pediatric Blunt Renal Trauma: A Single Institution's Five Year Experience.
Children are at higher risk of renal injury from blunt trauma than adults due to a variety of anatomic factors such as decreased perirenal fat, weaker abdominal muscles, and a less ossified thoracic cage. Non-operative management is gaining in popularity for even major injuries, although there are no universally accepted guidelines. We present a retrospective review of pediatric major blunt ren...
